A Navy veteran and Cincinnati native, Tyler’s passion for hair began in childhood, but her path was anything but ordinary. As a kid, she was often bullied for being different whether it was her hair, her clothes, or simply the way she carried herself. Everything changed when she saw Teyana Taylor on MTV’s My Super Sweet 16. Teyana’s bold confidence and unapologetic style showed Tyler she didn’t need to fit in to stand out. From then on, she owned her individuality, using hair and fashion as her ultimate form of self-expression.
Her skills, first honed on Bratz dolls and later perfected through years of styling family, friends, and even fellow sailors while stationed in Japan, grew into a business deeply rooted in purpose. Though she once offered a range of styles, it was the loc journey—both physical and spiritual—that called to her.
To Tyler, locs are more than a hairstyle. They represent patience, growth, and the beauty of self-discovery.
During her military service, she was diagnosed with anxiety, PTSD, and depression. The rigid structure of military life made healing difficult, and traditional medicine wasn’t giving her the peace she needed. Seeking something deeper, she discovered Reiki—a practice that helped her unlock deep-seated pain and mental blocks. Inspired by the impact Reiki was making on her own life, she became a student of the practice leading to her evolution into becoming a practitioner.
Initially keeping her hairstyling and Reiki services separate, she soon realized that energy transfer is real—whether in healing sessions or in the simple act of touching someone’s hair. That’s when she came to understand that she could do more than just enhance her clients’ outer beauty; she could help them align their inner beauty as well. Now, she integrates both, ensuring that every interaction—whether a fresh re-twist, a spiritual loc detox, or a Reiki-charged product—carries intention, alignment, and peace.
Her signature Lavender Bliss Alignment Oil, charged under the new moon, is just one way she bridges the gap between beauty and spirituality. As her business expands, so does her purpose, with new products like a lavender bliss hair mist in the works!
